The Prime Minister’s comment that being ‘bo lui’ is worse than being ‘bo geh’ in relation to the ageing population has caused upset amongst homosexual Singaporeans.
“Well, Singapore will not only be bo geh and bo lui, it will also be bo gay because they refuse to repeal section 377A of the Penal Code,” said Mr. Loh Tee Koon, a gay activist who is better known as the blogger Sleepy Bread.
Mr. Loh said that the Gahmen’s stance on homosexuality was hypocritical, as it assiduously tried to court the pink dollar while also keeping pink behaviour illegal.
The ostensible justification for maintaining the current restriction on “gross indecency between men” is that Singaporeans are still very conservative and find homosexuality troubling. However, as Mr. Loh noted, “Many Singaporeans are also sexist and racist. How come we’re not caving in to those impulses, ha?”
It appears, Mr. Loh said, that “when it comes to being bo geh, bo lui, or bo gay, Singaporeans are bo pian because the Gahmen is bo chup.”
In other news, senior citizens are puzzled over the cartoon DVD to spread simplified messages about the new retirement policies. Said Mr. Lao Ah Pek, 72, “Firstly, I donno how to operate a microwave, neh’mine a DVD player. But what I really dun understand is how come Gahmen got so much money to produce cartoon in high tech format, but say got no money to support us, ha?”
