Shinjuku Incident... It was definitely no accident...

Heard so much abt this show, just had to watch it... It was a tough choice for me 'cos on the same day there was a special sneaks for Fast & Furious 4. Kathy seemed ok with both... I was keen on F&F. We checked the timings and seatings at various cinemas. The former was ok the latter was horrendously BAD. Most were left with individual seats for the 1st rows. Scary shit I tell you...

But alas I was in a mood to catch a movie that night so we settled for JC's latest flick Shinjuku Incident. I read the sypnosis online and the storyline was rather compelling. I know it kinda spoils it for me but hey, you can't just walk into any damn cinema and be completely clueless abt the show you are catching right?

We made our way down to AMK hub around 10plus pm. Bought our tix (good couple seats for the midnight show). I met Sugi at the cinema, he was catching "The Knowing" which stars N.Cage. I have no clue what the show's abt. Sugi is my Uni friend and he's from Indonesia. He's working at OCBC Tampines (Very far considering he stays at Bishan) Anyways, looking forward to see him on Convo day (Apr 16)

A short session at Mac for snacks and it's showtime. Good turn-out for a midnight. I was still skeptical about the show (when was the last freaking time I caught a chinese flick in the cinema, gotta be either Initial D or one of Jack Neo's lame-ass shows... can't remember too) I just prayed I didn't make a wrong choice as my mind was F&F4 all the way...

Show started on time but as usual there's always a bunch of retarded, time-challenged fcuks who stroll in and conveniently block your vision.

The show was 2hrs long and I enjoyed every bit of it. Actions, emotions and pulsating fight scenes. Most importantly, JC instilled in the audience a sense of patriotism and core chinese values. The Japanese actors did well too, seriously, who would have thought a Sino-Jap flick can be so well-made. Well, it can if yr names are Derek Yee and Jackie "FTW" Chan...

Anyway, here's the story in a nut-shell...
JC is a chinese illegal who left China to find his sweetheart in Japan, only to find out she's married to a Yakuza boss.

End of story? Nope, it's just beginning. Daniel Wu is the unlucky bastard in the show who gets beaten up, disfigured and had his hand severed. Talk abt violence eh? JC seeks revenge for him and ends up saving his ex's hubby when some Yakuza-Triad shit went down. He became his right hand man and soon rised up the ranks.

He made the lives of his fellow Chinese illegals better and he became their "leader". Mr Yakuza then made use of his friends to peddle drugs and do some illegal shit.

Daniel Wu completely lost his mind after his last traumatizing session and got involved with Yakuza activities. JC got sick and tired with the way his comrades have become and seeked to rectify the issue. This led to an internal confrontation and with the Police hot on his chinese ass, JC made a tough choice to turn his Yakuza-master over and urged his friends to quit this devious lifestyle.

Of course, all shit broke loose at the end and a major showdown took place ultimately - JC, his fcukd-up friends, the Yakuza (which had internal conflicts among themselves too) and the Police. Battle royale dare I say. Everyone got whacked and let's say JC was the last to die. Before he faded away, he handed the incriminating evidence to the police... and credit rolls...

Sweet show with a simple storyline, the violence bit was not quite JC's regular formula. He had very little fight sequences in this show. He was more of trying to dodge and defend himself than actually whip ass like he usually does. But I guessed it went well with the flow and mood of the movie... 4 languages this show had: Chinese, Cantonese, Hokkien and Japanese. Very well-made. Duration was good and the story flowed brilliantly. Fantastic performances from JC, Daniel and the 2 lasses from China. The Japs did well too. Overall 4 out of 5 stars!!!

It's like a million times better than Dragon"SUCK MY"balls...

Shinjuku Incident was definitely "No accident"!
